Sunvari is a popular folk music ensemble of
Goa. Almost all the religious and festive occasions call for the performance of the Sunvari troupe, which includes a group of musicians performing on the traditional percussion instruments such as Ghumat, Shamel and Kansalem (cymbals). Piped instruments such as Shenai and Surt are sometimes part of the ensemble. The accompanying song contains only a few words. Emphasis is more on rhythm and beats.
Sunvari is also referred by the name Chandraval. It usually forms an essential part of the procession of the village deity.
