Sukhna Choe, a seasonal rivulet originating from the
Shivalik Hills, is a major source of water for the picturesque
Sukhna Lake bordering
Chandigarh. The Sukhna Lake was created in 1958 by checking the flow of the rivulet.
It however led to a heavy deposit of silt near the lake. Correction measures have led to the stream bypassing the lake completely and instead feeding water indirectly via appropriate filtering methods.
Sukhna Choe currently flows through the eastern side of the city.
