Sujani is a traditional embroidered quilt similar to Kantha (a popular art form in
West Bengal). The pattern and color of the stitches are simple and bold, similar to
Madhubani paintings. The patterns are marked with symbolic motifs and have colored quilting threads as outline. The background is filled mostly with white threads. The stitching will be in a circular manner in order to fill the motifs. These quilts though made from used textiles, are given as gifts for weddings, births, and special occasions.
