Sugarcane Research Station




The objective of the Sugarcane Research Station, established in 1976, is research on sugarcane and verification function on vegetables. The center is under the supervision of the Kerala Agricultural University. It is situated at Thiruvalla in Pathanamthitta District.

Among its achievements are three sugarcane hybrids namely Madhuri, Thirumadhiram and Madhurima. Recently, the center has developed a uniform agro-technique for sugarcane cultivation. Besides, the Research Station released a snake gourd variety, Kaumudi, and a bitter gourd variety, Priyanka. The AICRP Center on sugarcane is functioning at this station.
