St Thomas' Cathedral

Situated in the heart of the commercial fort area in Mumbai, St Thomas Cathedral is the first Anglican Church in the city.

Its foundation was laid in 1672 by Gerald Aungier, the then governor, and was opened to the public by Richard Cobbe - a chaplain to the East India Company - on the Christmas day in 1718.

The church is a fine blend of classical and gothic style of architecture. Its main forte is the whitewashed and polished brass and wood interior. A marble plaque can be seen at the entrance.
