Affiliated to the
University of Delhi, St Stephen’s College was founded on February 1, 1881. Designed by Walter George, the college is an elegant two-storey red brick building with four spacious courts. The college has students and teachers from all over India. The college provides under graduate and post graduate courses in Arts, Commerce and Science. It houses a well-equipped library carrying more than ninety thousand books. Hostel facilities are available for nearly 300 boys and 54 girls. The college campus provides facilities for playing tennis, basketball, soccer and golf. Other facilities include the Francis Monk Gymnasium, the Junior Common Room and the Ladies Common Rooms. For worship and meditation, St Stephen’s College offers a chapel that is open to all members of the college. The college also boasts various academic and cultural activities such as debating, dramatics, mountaineering, film and music appreciation, photography and astronomy.
