St Mary’s Church is located in the
district of Medak in
Andhra Pradesh. It is considered one of the three biggest churches in South India. The church has a huge stained glass window. It provides accommodation for about 5,000 people. It is a fine specimen of Gothic architecture in India. According to the legend, the church was built by Rev Charles Walker Posnett (a missionary from England) during World War I after a famine that lasted for three years.
Medak is around 100 km from Hyderabad by road. The nearest airport and railway station are Hyderabad Airport and Hyderabad Deccan Railway Station respectively.
