Founded in 1844 by the Fathers of the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits), St Joseph's College is an autonomous first grade college affiliated to the
Bharathidasan University. Accredited with 5 stars by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), it offers under graduate, post graduate, post graduate diploma, M.Phil, and PhD programs in Arts, Science, and Commerce. The college has hostels, well stocked library, computer centre, cyber centre, health centre, sports and games facilities, workshop, community centre, hall, chapel, vocational centre, and a herbal garden. It conducts many outreach programs towards the development of the neglected rural population. Admissions are conducted as per the norms issued by the Bharathidasan University.
