St Ephrem's Higher Secondary School is a co-educational institution owned by the St Joseph's Monastery. Named after Ephrem, the Eastern Syriac poet and genius in Christian Spirituality, the school materialized as the first ever venture of the CMI's in the field of education, in
Kerala. It is situated 10 km to the north west of
Kottayam, on the Mannanam hill.
The school follows an innovative curriculum, giving importance to academic studies as well as extra curricular activities. The Boarding house accommodates outstation students. A school parliament, consisting of candidates elected from amongst the students, co-ordinates the co-curricular activities in the school. Literary and arts club, science and mathematics club, and social science club contribute in grooming budding talents. Other facilities in the campus include computer labs, sports facilities and spiritual sessions.
