Srila Prabhupada’s Puspa Samadhi is a sacred place where the body of Srila Prabhupada was buried. It is located at
Mayapur in
Nadia District and it took 18 years to complete the construction of this samadhi. One of the largest Samadhi in India, it holds an auditorium, a garden, a diorama exhibit, and small lake at the front. The scenes from
Bhagavata Purana are depicted in terracotta panels in the samadhi.
The dome has a height of 50 ft and a breadth of 80 ft. At the top of the dome is a gold kalasa of 30 ft. There are 16 cement-coated statues at the base, which are nine feet tall and treated with a bronze paint. The outer five domes symbolize the Pancha tattva. There are paintings of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and his associates performing kirtana. At the upstairs of the Samadhi there is a pond that rises and falls with the level of the Ganges and has a floating fountain. In front of the Samadhi chamber is a lotus fountain, which contains swans.
