Sri Venkatachalapathy Swamy Temple




Sri Venkatachalapathy Swamy Temple is an ancient shrine situated at Tirumala ward, a colony of GSB community near the district collectorate in Kollam town. Tirumala ward is around 4 km from Kollam Junction Railway Station. The temple was built in 1822. The presiding deity here is Sri Venkatachalapathy. The temple enshrines the beautiful idol of the lord with Laxmi Devi and Bhoomi Devi on either side. Other deities are Maha Ganapathi and Dharma Devas. The temple has two ponds - one inside the temple wall and other outside. Close to the inner pond is a large pigeon cage, which has many inhabitants.
