Sri Ranganatha Swami Temple




Sri Ranganatha Swami Temple is located at Srirangam, Tiruchirapalli. The temple is famous for its gopurams. There are 21 Gopurams, among which the rajagopuram is the largest in South India. Built in 1987, the rajagopuram is a 13 tiered, 72 meter high pillar. The other pillars were constructed between the 14th and 17th centuries. The temple occupies 60 hectare. The temple can be approached by traveling 7 km from Tiruchirapalli.
