Sri Mahabhairab Mandir is located on the top of a small hill, north of
Tezpur. The history of the temple dates back to the age of
Puranas. Archeologists believe that the temple was built between 8th and 10th century by the kings of the Salasthamba Dynasty. The present structure was built by monk Sri Swayambar Bharati, popularly known as Naga Baba.
There are large
shivlings inside the temple. Cement-concrete idols of
Lord Ganesh and
Lord Hanuman are in the entrance of the temple.
Tezpur Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
