Sri Kamakshi Amman Temple is a beautiful shrine situated at Panchamadevi, in
Karur District of
Tamil Nadu. This ancient shrine is situated amid the vast stretches of sugarcane fields on the banks of the
Amaravathi River.
The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kamakshi Amman, an incarnation of Goddess Parvati. The deity is seen depicted as in penance (tapasu kolam) in the temple. The temple also enshrines idols of Parivara deities such as Kathavarayan, Masi Periasamy, Lada Thannasi and Madurai Veeran. There is a 400 year's old Iluppai tree seen in the temple premises.
