Sri Kamakshi Amman Temple




Sri Kamakshi Amman Temple is situated at Mangadu, Chennai District. It is an ancient temple which came into existence during the peirod of Aadi Sankaracharya. The Ardhameru (Sri Chakra) in this temple was installed by Adi Sankara. Goddess Parvati is depicted as performing penance by standing on one leg over panchagni (five fires). Fridays are very special in this temple.
