Sri Jayamangala Anjaneyar Thirukoil

Sri Jayamangala Anjaneyar Thirukoil is a highly revered shrine situated at Idugampalayam, about 6 km from Sirumugai, in Coimbatore District of Tamil Nadu. It is around 50 km from Coimbatore. The temple enshrines Lord Anjaneyar (Lord Hanuman) as the presiding deity. The idol was built by 'Vyasa Raya' during Krishna Deva Raya's rule. Most noteworthy fact is that the idol was carved from a single monolithic rock called swayambhu and it has a distinct posture. The idols of Lord Ganesh and Nandi are also carved in the same rock. The carvings of Kamadhenu shedding milk on Shivling can be seen on the pivot side of Lord Ganesh.

Legend has it that Lord Ram requested Anjaneya to get a Shivling to do puja. After waiting Anjaneya for a long time, Lord Ram made a ‘Suyambu Lingeswarar' himself and did the rituals. Anjaneya on returning with the Shivling found the Shivling made by Lord Ram. He made a futile attempt to uproot it and install the lingam he brought in place. Anjaneya subsequently placed the idol beside the 'Suyambu Lingeswarar'.

Ramnavami and Hanuman Jayanti are the major festivals celebrated here amid much religious fervor.
