Sri Gowthameswarar Temple is located to the eastern bank of the
Mahamaham tank,
Kumbakonam. The lord of the temple is Yagnobhaveetheswar (
Shiva) and the Goddess is Sundaranayagi. The temple was worshiped by Sage Gowthama who created the Gowthama
teertham.
