Sri Aurobindo Society (SAS) is an international non-governmental organization with administrative office at
Pondicherry. It has over 300 centers and 50 branches in India and abroad.
The society was started by Mirra Alfassa (the Mother) in 1960, with a view to work towards individual perfection, social transformation and human unity, based on a spiritual foundation. The society organizes various activities and projects to realize the goal.
SAS successfully completed the project of ‘the construction of mother’s dream city of Auroville’.
Seminars, conferences, running of educational institutions, programs of physical education, and classes for dance, drama, music, teachers' camps, youth camps, free medical care and research programs are organized through its various branches. Membership is also allowed.
