Sri Adishankaracharya Sharada Lakshmi Narasimha Peetam is situated at
Hariharpur, in
Chikmagalur District of
Karnataka. Sheltered on the banks of the
Tunga River, this temple-monastery complex has practiced Sanatana Dharma and
Advaita philosophy for over 1000 years, after the installation of Sri Chakra by
Adi Shankaracharya.
The 14th century shashanas (stone inscriptions) has mentioned about this ashram. Chandi Parayana (a ritual), homa and daily annadana seva are main activities.
Navratri is the major festival celebrated here amid much pomp and splendor. The ashram offers four rooms from accommodation.
Tarikere Railway Station, on the Shimoga-Birur railway line, is the nearest railhead.
