Sree Raghavapuram Temple, popularly known as Hanumarambalam, is situated at Cheruthazham, near
Payyanur, in
Kerala. This 8th century AD temple is believed to be constructed by Udaya Varman Kolathiri and was then given to the 237 scholarly Brahmin families who were invited from the Tulunadu of present
Karnataka.
Though Sree Raghavapuram Temple is known by the name of Lord Anjaneya, the temple is dedicated to Lord Ram. Other deities worshipped here include Lord Parameswara (Lord Shiva) and Goddess Durga. Most noteworthy feature of the temple is that the Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman are installed on the same pedestal.
Avil Nivedyam (flake offering) is the most popular offering of the temple. The Thidambu Nritham, the holy dance conducted by the Brahmins with the idols of Gods on their head, is another point of attraction.
