A Buddhist archeological site, Soro is 32 km from
Baleswar. The place treasures some tokens of Brahminical, Buddhist and Jain religions.
Gohirisahi, another village near Soro, is also archeologically important. This village, 3 km from Soro, possesses some relics of the period between the 7th century and 11th century. A small
shivling fixed to a Yonipitha with a well known Buddhist Dharma inscription on its four sides, is notable. This inscription is said to belong to the later part of the 9th century. A series of broken images related to Brahminical, Buddhist and Jain religions are also found here.
Tourists can visit these places by road from Baleswar. The nearest railhead is at Baleswar under the
South Eastern railways.
