Sonbhadra District in
Uttar Pradesh has an area of 6,788 sq km. The population is over 1.4 million.
Hindi, English, and
Bhojpuri are the main languages spoken. The town of
Robertsganj is the headquarters.
In summer, the temperature varies from 10 to 45oC and in winter it is from 8 to 25oC. The district receives an average annual rainfall of 1,037 mm.
An important place is the Sonbhadra fossils park at Salkhan. The age of the fossils is around 1400 million years.
There are many tourist and religious places including Vijaygarh fort, Aghorigarh fort, Shivdwar temple, Renukeshwar Mahadev temple, Mukha water fall, Dhanraul dam and Vindham fall.
