Sonangeri is a picturesque village situated at a distance of 85 km from
Mangalore on the Mangalore - Subramanya route. Lying on the beds of coastal Karnataka with lush green forests, bamboo bridges and narrow gorges, the village offers a pleasing atmosphere for tourists.
Sonangeri is one of the first open art galleries of India with around 40 houses of the village decked up with beautiful creations of the artistes. Painting is the important part of the daily routine of the village people.
The place has a rich tradition of theater and other performing arts such as Yakshagana.
Sullia and Subramanya (pilgrim center) are nearby.
