Located in
Kotipalli, Someswara Swamy Temple is one of the five Pancharama temples in
Andhra Pradesh. The shrine is believed to have been erected during the reign of
Vijayanagar Empire.
Lord Shiva in the form of Someswara and Goddess Parvati in the form of Sri Rajarajeswari Ammavaru are the chief deities. According to legends, the Shivling seen here was installed by Lord Chandra in order to redeem from the curse made by Daksha.
A major draw is during Mahashivaratri festival, which is celebrated here for five days.
