Skanda Temple




Skanda Temple is located at Skandasramam near Salem in Tamil Nadu. The place Skandasramam, also called as Skandagiri, was founded by Shantananda Swami in the latter half of the 20th century. The temple is dedicated to Skanda ( Muruga) and Mahishasuramardhini. The presiding deity of the temple is Mahishasuramardhini with 18 arms, also known as Ashtadasabhuja Mahalakshmi. Panchamukha Anjaneyar, Pancha mukha Ganapathi Dattatreya, Shiva and Dhanvantri are also enshrined in the temple. Shrines for Navagrahas along with their respective consorts are situated in the temple premises. The temple teertham is Kannimaar Odai. Daily pujas start with Suprabhata Sevai in the morning. The main festival celebrated here is Kartikai Deepam. One can reach the temple from Salem by bus, auto-rickshaw or taxi.
