Sita Kund

Sita Kund is one of the most frequented places at Munger, 4 miles east of Munger town. There are hot springs here which form the major attraction, besides this there is a Hindu temple and to the north is a reservoir of cold water, known as Ramkund, while to the west there are three more pools, namely Lakshman Kund, Bharat Kund, and Shatrughnan Kund, named after the three brothers of Lord Ram.

Legend goes that Sita, after being rescued from Lanka, was asked to prove her chastity to satisfy all public opinion and she gladly agreed to the Agni Pariksha (the fire ordeal). She came out of the fire test unharmed and imparted the heat her body had absorbed from the fire, to the pool in which she bathed. The hot spring is now an enclosed and grilled reservoir and is visited by a large number of pilgrims on the full moon day of Magh.
