Siron Molo Sochum festival is celebrated by the
Nishi tribe of
Arunachal Pradesh. It is held during the month of December.
On this occasion, the houses and granaries are rebuilt. Fresh grains are stored in the granaries. Rice and meat are the main dishes served to the guest on this day. It is believed that by satisfying the guests with food, the produce of the farms will increase the next year.
Songs narrating the history of the tribe are sung. Prayers are offered to the goddess of crops in the hope of getting better yield next year.
