Sindgere

Sindgere is a small village in Chikmagalur District of Karnataka. It is famous for two Jain temples. Constructed during the Hoysalas period in 12th century, Bhagwan Parshwanatha Jain Temple enshrines a black color idol of Bhagvan Parshwanatha in kayotsarga posture. The deity is flanked on both sides by the idols of Choubis Teerthankar and Goddess Padmavati.

The other temple is dedicated to Lord Brahmadeva. The idol, sitting on a horse, is installed on a stone pillar. On either side of this pillar, there are two stone pillars, which have a carved image of Kshetrapala Jattappa.

Boarding facilities are available in the temple premises. The village is about 15 km from Javagal and 4 km from Basavanakote. Sindgere is easily accessible from Chikmagalur.
