Shyama Sastri, one of the Trinity of Carnatic music, was born on April 26, 1762 at Thiruvarur. He was originally named Venkatakrishna. His family was devoted to the worship of
Goddess Kamakshi. Shyama Sastri received his training from Sangeetha Swami. His compositions include over 300 songs in
Sanskrit,
Telugu, and Tamil. He died on February 6, 1827.
