Shri Subramanya Swami Temple is a highly revered shrine dedicated to Lord Subramanya (
Lord Muruga). This ancient temple is situated at Athiyambur near
Kanhangad and is managed by Chinmaya Mission.
A popular folklore says that it was here that Subramanya had undergone penance for many years to gather strength to kill Tharakasura.
Somavaravratham, conducted on Mondays, attract large number of women. Chinmaya Mission organizes spiritual classes for those who arrive to observe Somavaravratham and also provide them meal at the temple.
