Born in
Uttar Pradesh, Shri Punitachariji is a saint popularly known as Bapushri. After his studies at
Varanasi, Babushri reached the
Himalayas and then the
Girnar Hill in search of self realization. He continued
sadhana (spiritual practice) for 20 years and attained the vision of Sadguru
Dattatreya in 1975. Sadguru offered him the mantra 'Hari Om Tatsat Jai Guru Datta' for the well being of human beings. The saint preaches the ways to attain peace and happiness.
Guru-ma Shailaja Devi is his consort. The saint is also the founder of two ashrams, Girnar Sadhana Ashram and Datta Ganga Ashram. Both the ashrams are open to public irrespective of caste or religion.
