Shri Mahalaxmi Temple is situated at
Bandora, about 4 km from
Ponda. It was constructed in 1413 by Gowda Saraswat Brahmins. The presiding deity is
Mahalaxmi, Goddess of power and strength. The idols of Shri Narayan, Shri Baleshwar, Shri Ravalnath, and Shri Narayan Purush are also enshrined in the temple.
The "Sabhamantap" or the main hall of the temple has a gallery of 18 wooden images of
Lord Vishnu. The temple is also noted for its magnificent chowka. Kaushika, Kashyapa, Vatsa, and Bharadwaja Gothras are the mahajans of the temple.
Pooja is held everyday from 07:00 to 11:30 hrs. Mid-day pooja is at 12:00 hrs and evening pooja is at 20:00 hrs.

Navratri, Chaitra Poornima in March/April,
Anantha Chaturdasi and
Vaikunta Chaturdashi are the festivals celebrated.
Shri Nagesh Maharoudra Temple, dedicated to
Lord Shiva, is located near this temple.
