Shri Mahaganapati Temple is a highly revered shrine located at Ranjangaon in
Pune District of
Maharashtra. It is among the Ashta Vinayak or the eight sacred shrines of the state, celebrating eight instances of legends related to
Lord Ganesh.
Built during the 10th and 11th century, it reflects the splendor of Peshwa architecture. The temple enshrines the idol of Lord Ganesh. The idol is placed on a lotus, flanked by his consorts Siddhi and Buddhi.
Ganesh Chaturthi celebrated here amid much pomp and splendor draws a large number of devotees from far and near.
Two ancient temples, the Tripura Samhaaram Temple and the Bhima Shankaram Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva are located nearby.
Ranjangaon is about 60 km north-west of Pune. Pune Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
