Established in 1981, Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya is a State University, located at Balukhand in
Puri.
This is the third Sanskrit university in India and has about seven departments. It has introduced 10, +2 and +3 pattern of education at par with general system and awards degrees of Vidyavachaspati (D Litt) and Vidyavaridhi (Ph D) for research works on various fields of Sanskrit literature and culture. Recognition to various degrees and diplomas of other universities are offered by this university on reciprocal basis. Research activities and publication of books are carried out.
