Shri Dashnami Akhara Mandir lies to the south of
Poonch in
Jammu and Kashmir. Poonch is about 250 km north-west of
Jammu.
Legend says that it is the place where Swami Jawahar Giri Ji meditated and delivered sermons and solace to the people. Swami Shankarya Nand Giri Ji followed Swami Parma Nand Ji and Swami Satya Nand Saraswati lived on this place.
Every year on the Raksha Bandan, a Chhari Mubarak is taken from this place to Buddha Amarnath Mandir at Mandi. A large number of people follow this procession.
