Shree Varadaraja Perumal Temple is located at
Minjur, a coastal village located near to the
Bay of Bengal, in
Tiruvallur District of
Tamil Nadu. It is about 25 km north of
Chennai. This Vaishnavite temple dates back over 400 years and is well known by the name ‘South Kanchi’.
The temple enshrines Lord Varadaraja Perumal as the presiding deity. The deity of this temple is seen along with his consort, Perundevi Valli (Goddess Lakshmi).
The ten days annual festival called Brahmotsavam celebrated here in the month of May-June attracts thousands of devotees from far and near. The main attractions of the festival are the Garuda Seva and Ratha Utsavam.
Ekambaranatha Swamy Temple (dedicated to Lord Shiva) and Minjur Metrowater Station are other points of interest nearby.
