Shree Gopal Ganapati Temple is a highly revered shrine situated at Farmagudi, about 26 km from
Panaji, the capital of
Goa. The temple enshrines
Lord Ganesh as the presiding deity; popularly known as Gopal Ganapati.
This stone idol was discovered by herdsmen while grazing cattle near the hill and later installed in a small shrine with a thatched roof. The present temple was built by the Late Dayanand Bandodkar, the first chief minister of Goa. The new metallic alloy idol of ‘Gopal Ganapathi’ was consecrated in 1966.
