The Shiva Vishnu temple is situated at
Chennai in
Tamil Nadu. Shaivaism and vaishnavism (two important paths of divinity in practicing
Hinduism) concur at the Shiva Vishnu Temple. The temple is unique in that
Lord Shiva and
Lord Vishnu are worshipped under the same roof. The temple houses the idol of a yoni lingam (images of male and female genitals). There are separate shrines dedicated to
Lord Ram,
Lord Hanuman and
Lord Ganesh.
