Shipra is a holy river that passes through
Ujjain. Devotees believe this river is as sacred as the
Ganges. It is believed that the river washes away the sins committed by the devotees. In order to enter the inner sanctum of the temple at Ujjain, one must take a holy bath in this river. A large number of people arrive here to perform funeral rites for the departed souls.
