Sheersha Mosque is an ancient mosque situated at
Penukonda in
Anantapur District,
Andhra Pradesh. The mosque was built during the rule of Qutub Shahis in the 16th and 17th centuries. The mosque is also known as Sher Shah Mosque. The highly ornate mihrab (prayer niche) is the chief point of interest in the monument. It is also rich in plaster work.
Parshvanatha Temple is adjacent to the mosque. Penukonda Fort and dargah of Babayya are nearby attractions.
By road, Sheersha Mosque can be reached from Puttaparthi (about 27 km south-east) and Anantapur (74 km.) Anantapur Railway Station, on the Hyderabad-Bangalore broad gauge line, is the nearest railroad depot.
