Shankaralayam is located at
Chembur, a prime residential area in the eastern part of
Mumbai,
Maharashtra. Managed by Shree Hariharaputra Bhajan Samaj, it is a spiritual retreat named after
Adi Shankaracharya, one of the greatest philosophers of
Kerala.
In addition to spiritual activities, Shankaralayam participates in numerous social service activities, including scholarships, educational aids, orphan feeding and help center for victims of natural calamities. Shankaralayam runs a medical aid centre and cultural center and conducts dance and music classes.
Shankaralayam has a prayer hall which enshrines images of Lord Ayyappa, Adi Shankaracharya, Shivling and Goddess Kamakshi.
The nearest major railhead is Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Railway Station. Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is the nearest airport.
