Shamlaji Temple




Shamlaji Temple is a 11th century shrine situated at Shamlaji, in Sabarkantha District of Gujarat. It is about 42 km east of Himmatnagar. It is a renowned Vaishnava shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The deity is also known by various names such as Gadadhar (bearer of the mace) and Shaksi Gopal.

The temple, built during the Solanki Rajput period, is a splendid work of architecture with fine carvings and an aura of devotion.

The annual Shamlaji Fair, which falls in the month of November, attracts thousands of people from far and near.

Himmatnagar Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
