Shaigouru




Shaigouru, a picturesque village, is located 10 km from Juara in Lahaul and Spiti District. It lies at an elevation of about 4,000 m, on the ManaliChandra Tal Lake - Hamta Pass trek route. ‘Shaigouru’ (Sherdagoru or Shira Gorh) means cold place, which is the local name for the village. Chandra River flows through Shaigouru. Chhatru, Balu ka Gera, Chhika, Hamta Pass and Rohtang Pass are located nearby. It is an ideal base for trekking and mountaineering. Base camps are available. Kullu Manali Airport at Bhuntar is the nearest airport. Chandigarh Railway Station and Joginder Nagar Railway Station are the nearest railway stations.
