Shad Wait is an indigenous dance of
Meghalaya. It is performed by men using swords.
The performance starts with dancers hopping three times towards the front on their right foot and then returning back. Pairs of dancers then move in circles, with one man chasing the other. During this chase, they occasionally wave a sword. Total of three rounds are taken and then the direction is reversed. The whole set of movements is carried out three times.
The dance closes up with two or four dancers crossing each other in rows. At the end, two rows of dancers facing each other are formed.
