Established in 1900 in
Munnar, Sevenmallay Tea Estate is the largest tea estate of Tata Tea Company in south India. It is located at an elevation of 4800 ft to the south-west of the Kannan Devan Hills. The estate name is attributed to the Hindu God, '
Shiva' and 'mallay' denoting a hill, which in the course of time became Sevenmallay Estate.
Sevenmallay is bounded by Munnar town in the east. The Munnar Christ Church, Munnar workshop, Cenotaph, Ropeway Station, Gymkhana Grounds and K D H Club are located here. The estate receives an annual rainfall of 431 cm.
Nearest railway stations are at Kochi and Kottayam. Nearby airport is Cochin International Airport (130 km).
