Seon Chapori Naam is a folk art form in
Darrang District of
Assam. Religious and mythological stories are narrated in this performance.
It is performed by a team consisting of a leader, Taal players and a few followers. The word Chapori (clapping) points to the prominence of claps during the performance.
Small leather percussion instruments known as Nagra are used in the performance. Sarkari dance and Khhedaa dance are performed during the course of Seon Chapori Naam. A short drama is included in between their performance to avoid monotony.
