Seetharkundu, a lake, is situated at Nelliampathy, about 52 km from
Palakkad town and about 9 km from Nenmara. The place offers a fantastic view of the valley below. It is said that
Ram,
Sita and
Lakshman lived here during their 14 year sojourn in the forests. The place got its name from the legend that at that time, Sita used to take bath in this pool. The 1000 m high waterfall is one of the major attractions here.
Cochin International Airport is 120 km away from Palakkad. Palakkad is a major rail head in the Southern Railway. There are regular trains connecting the town with Chennai, Coimbatore, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
