Seethaladevi Temple




Dedicated to Lakshmi Devi, Seethaladevi Temple is located at Tiruvarur in Tamil Nadu. The temple has a Rajagopuram and surrounding walls. There is a balipeetam, Kodimaram and Yagakuntam inside the temple. The idol of Lord Ganesh is installed under big old nagalinga tree at the entrance. The temple deity, holding a knife, skeleton, nagapasam, and gathai in her hands, is seen guarded by dwarapalakis. Sudai, holding a soolam instead of gathai, is behind the idol of Devi. The temple holds the images of Anjaneya, Naganathaswamy, Katthavarayaswamy, Thottiyathusinran, Karuppannasamy, Veeran, Periyanayaki, Katteri and Uttandarayan. There is an image of Karuppayi amman holding a baby, next to the main sanctum. Special poojas are held on Fridays and Saturdays which are auspicious to the goddess.
