Saroya is a small settlement which comes under the taluk of
Balachur in
Nawan Shehar District,
Punjab. Saroya is positioned against the backdrop of the Shivalik mountains, about two km from the
Nawan Shehar-
Chandigarh road. The village was so named after a Rajput, Sarva who lived here about one thousand years ago.
A high school, an inn called Telu Mal Di Saran, eight temples, a telephone exchange and a few branches of popular banks are the major landmarks.
There are regular bus services which connect Saroya with nearby villages and towns. By road, Nawan Shahar is nearly 6 km from here. Nawan Shehar Railway Station serves this area. The nearest international airport is at Amritsar.
