Sangla is a village, situated at an altitude of 8,792 ft in
Baspa Valley of
Kinnaur District. It has majestic views of Kinner-Kailash Peak, which is 6500 meters above sea level. Kamru Fort, once the citadel of the rulers of Rampur Bushahr State, has now been adapted as the
Kamakshi Temple. The image of the deity is from the

Sangla is famous for its unique Kinnauri shawls, woolen socks, tweeds and silver jewelry studded with Tibetan pearls. Sangla is noted for its remarkable orchards, where especially delicious apples grow.Green pastures, deodars and flowers are the added scenic features. The Baspa River (95 km length) flows through Sangla providing opportunities for trout fishing. Bird-watching and trekking are the other activities.
The best time to visit is from April to July and September to October. There are several camp-sites and hotels in and around ensuring comfortable stay. Chitkul (26 km) and Sarahan (95 km) are nearby. At a distance of 238 km is Shimla. The nearest railhead is in Chandigarh, 340 km away.
